high mountain bamboo from central China, this clumping
bamboo is a lovely, attractive species which is the
hardiest bamboo available. Colorful culms compliment
leaves that are small, and lancet-shaped. This delicate
yet hardy species looks great in a pot and although it
can handle partial sun, it looks its best in the shade.

interesting form of P. Nigra that has
a black stripe on the sulcus of the cane.
Like all phyllostachys species, Megurochiku
will spread steadily as it matures. Dark
brown/black coloration on the culm appears
after a couple of years. Trim the lower
foliage on this robust grower in order to
showcase the unique coloration.
